The June 2005 issue of Euromoney's monthly Managing Intellectual Property magazine has a special focus on Mexico. The IPKat is pleased to see Mexico in the spotlight, not because he likes buying counterfeit handbags in Tijuana but because that country has grown up tremendously in the past decade and has become strategically significant jurisdiction with growing consumer and manufacturing bases. Also in this issue are
* "Japanese Companies Fight for their IP Rights", on the trend for Japanese businesses to seek relief through the litigation than through more discreet, traditional means, by Lloyd Parker, Andrew Cobden and Yukihiro Otani of Lovells' Tokyo office;

* Paul M. Booth and Leslie Mooi (Heller Ehrman) look at due diligence points that should be borne in mind before investing in a life science company;

* MIP editor James Nurton and his colleague Emma Barraclough report on the slightly depressing (for patent purists) topic of traditional knowledge protection within the patent system.

All comments must be moderated by a member of the IPKat team before they appear on the blog. Comments will not be allowed if the contravene the IPKat policy that readers' comments should not be obscene or defamatory; they should not consist of ad hominem attacks on members of the blog team or other comment-posters and they should make a constructive contribution to the discussion of the post on which they purport to comment.

It is also the IPKat policy that comments should not be made completely anonymously, and users should use a consistent name or pseudonym (which should not itself be defamatory or obscene, or that of another real person), either in the "identity" field, or at the beginning of the comment. Current practice is to, however, allow a limited number of comments that contravene this policy, provided that the comment has a high degree of relevance and the comment chain does not become too difficult to follow.
